Paris, Tenn.–This year’s Veterans’ Day Parade will have a different look than other years. The parade is at 11 a.m. this Saturday, November 8, moving along East Wood and Fairgrounds Rd., but in reverse from previous years. “It’s something new,” Veterans Services Officer Tony Lacy said.

Instead of beginning at the Henry County Fairgrounds, it will begin at Paris Inn & Suites on East Wood Street, move down Fairgrounds Rd., and disband in the old Markel plant parking lot on Bell Ave.

The lineup starts at 9:30 a.m., with everyone gathering in the parking lot of the Paris Inn & Suites.

Last year’s parade was rained out and George Shankle was to be Grand Marshal of the Parade and it was decided he would serve as this year’s marshal, but Shankle passed away. Ann Smith of the Veterans’ group said, “He will still be with us in spirit. June, his wife, has agreed to ride in his place with Jay driving his jeep.”

Anyone or any groups which want to join in the parade can call Ann Smith at 363 0114 or the Veterans’ Services office at 642 5055. The only requirement is that there is something patriotic on the float, car, truck, bike or whatever.
