Day One Of Big Bass Bash Complete On Kentucky Lake

 Day 1 of tournament competition is complete for the Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley.  Over 630 of the top collegiate anglers took to Kentucky Lake in search of one big bite to stake claim to the tournament lead, and earn their share of the more than $40,000 in prizes & contingencies up for grabs at this no-entry-fee, nationally televised, double points tournament.

Tournament action began early this morning with Session 1 presented by Engel Coolers.  Kase Kramer from 25th ranked Tarleton State University won the session with a largemouth bass weighing 5.98 pounds. For the session victory, Kase received an Engel 65 cooler and a $300 Bass Pro Shops gift card.

The second session of the day was presented by MillerTech.  Top prize for this session was a MillerTech Lithium battery, $300 Bass Pro Shops gift card, and a pair of Bajio sunglasses.  Hunter King from 15th ranked Blue Mountain Christian University took top honors with 6.63 pounds.  Blue Mountain Christian placed two anglers in the Top 4 for this session, as Caleb Bass placed 4th with 5.13 pounds.  It took a bass weighing over 4.50 pounds to place inside of the Top 10 for Session 2 presented by MillerTech.

Harrison McCall from 4th ranked Lander University won Session 3 presented by Bass Pro Shops.  By weighing in a bass going 6.21 pounds, Harrison received a $1,000 Bass Pro Shops gift card.  After three sessions, two programs had placed two anglers in the Top 10 of consecutive sessions: Drury did so in the first two sessions, and Blue Mountain Christian in sessions two and three.

The final session of the day was Session 4 presented by Garmin.  1st and 2nd place for this session each awarded Garmin credits: 1st – $1,500 and 2nd – $1,000.  25th ranked Tarleton State got its second session victory of the day as Jared Mizell won Session 4 presented by Garmin with 7.93 pounds.  That bass also takes top honors as the largest bass following Day 1 of tournament competition at Kentucky Lake for the Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley.

Day 2 coverage of tournament competition will begin tomorrow morning with the live blog.  The full field of over 630 college anglers will compete once again out on Kentucky Lake.  There will be a total of three weigh-in sessions, with the first two sessions awarding the Top 10 biggest bass and the final session paying out the Top 20.  Anglers will be permitted to use only Berkley baits during Day 2 of tournament competition.  Live weigh-in will be streamed through the entirety of the event on Day 2 at this link.
