PARIS, Tenn.—Many community members and four inter-denominational congregations have been working hard on Empty Bowls – A Benefit for Little Pantries of Henry County.

In September and October, Paris First United Methodist Church, Trinity United Methodist Church, Antioch United Methodist Church, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be hosting a series of meals to benefit the little pantries in our community.

“Most of the meals will be soup meals, which will include a variety of homemade soups, breads and desserts,” explained Empty Bowls event organizer Janet Camp. “Antioch has decided to do their meal a little differently this year and will serve hamburgers and hot dogs. All of the events promise to be a great opportunity for guests to enjoy a wonderful meal with friends and family.”

Additionally, guests will have the opportunity to purchase a hand-painted bowl of their choice as a reminder that there are members of our community who have “empty bowls” because they have no food. These bowls were decorated by members of the community at bowl painting parties held during the summer.

Tickets for the meals are on sale now. Prices are: $12/adult, $5/child, and $30/family. Souvenir bowls are $10.

  • Trinity UMC: Friday, September 12, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: Friday, September 12, 4 – 6 p.m. (also hosted at Trinity UMC)
  • Antioch UMC: Thursday, September 18, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., with Silent Auction
  • Paris First UMC: Sunday, October 5, 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Tickets for any of the four locations, dates and times may be purchased online at www.littlepantriesofhc.com or by contacting the hosting churches.
