UT Martin Fall Classes Begin August 25

convocation

MARTIN, Tenn. – Fall classes at the University of Tennessee at Martin begin Monday, Aug. 25, and the university is planning several events to help welcome returning and first-time students to campus.

This semester features the beginning of the university’s 125-year celebration, marking the anniversary of UT Martin’s beginnings, as the Hall-Moody Institute was founded in 1900 – with the cornerstone of the first building laid on Oct. 2, 1900 – and the first classes were held Sept. 2, 1901.

Several celebratory events are scheduled throughout the 2025-26 school year and can be found at alumni.utm.edu/celebration.

Welcome Weekend at UT Martin begins Thursday, Aug. 21, and runs through Sunday, Aug. 24. Welcome Weekend is an annual celebration to help make returning to campus and moving into the residence halls more fun and enjoyable.

Welcome Weekend opens with Move-In Mania: Aug. 21 at the residence halls, followed by the third annual Welcome-Home Picnic, featuring food, games and fellowship for new and returning students.

The annual convocation takes place Aug. 22 at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center, where students get an introduction to campus life. The campus involvement fair will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 25, and the city of Martin business fair will be held downtown the same day from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The UT Martin women’s soccer team will host North Alabama at 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 21, and Austin Peay at 7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 24. Both games will be played at the Skyhawk Soccer Field, and general admission is $5, with students getting in free with their university ID.
