TIPTONVILLE – Reelfoot Lake State Park officials will temporarily close the Kirby Pocket boat ramp in the park beginning July 28 to construct a new ramp on the site. The job is expected to last approximately 10 weeks.
“We want to alert the public now so people will know to use other ramps,” said Park Manager Henry Robertson. “We look forward to the new ramp, and we hope there is not too much inconvenience for this temporary closure.”
Boaters will be able to use numerous other ramps to access the lake. The nearest ramp to Kirby Pocket is the Sunset boat ramp, 3.1 miles south of Kirby Pocket. The location for the Sunset ramp is:

The existing ramp at Kirby Pocket is approximately 30 feet wide, and the new ramp will add 12 feet to that width. Other amenities at Kirby Pocket will still be available during the temporary closure, including restrooms, an indoor fish cleaning station, and picnic tables. However, some of the parking available may be reduced.
