Murray, Ky.–A Murray man was arrested today, charging with sexual battery of a child under 12 years of age. He was arrested by the Volusia County, Fla., authorities, since the crimes occurred there.
The following is the the press release from the Port Orange Police Department in Florida:
“We hate to bring such disturbing information on a holiday, but we are glad to announce another predator is off the street today, thanks to the work of our Special Investigations Unit.
On May 26, 2025, detectives began investigating a case involving defendant, Gregory Allen Harris, 43 of Murray, KY, reportedly committing several acts of sexual battery and lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 12 years of age. The report was received after the child disclosed the incident to a school resource officer in Kentucky, which believed to have continuously occurred between 2021 and 2024, while Harris was staying at a campground in Port Orange.
After conducting an investigation along with the Calloway County, KY Sheriff’s Office our detectives obtained an arrest warrant in Volusia County for Harris on charges relating to sexual battery of a victim under 12 and lewd and lascivious molestation with a victim under 12, with multiple counts of each.
Once the warrant was issued, our detectives traveled to Kentucky where, alongside the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, Gregory Harris was located this morning and taken into custody to be extradited back to Volusia County. The investigation is still on going at this time.”
