
Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Schools board of education conducted a busy session late last week, with updated information on the need for a new septic system at Lakewood School, tenure awarded to four teachers, presentation of the school board scholarship to HCHS Grad Marly Latta and a positive evaluation for Director of Schools Dr. Leah Watkins.
Patrick Smith, president of L.I. Smith & Associates engineering firm of Paris, presented information on the required septic system. The current system is 30 years old and will need to be replaced. Smith said the school is in compliance with environmental regulations, but will need to resolve the septic needs. Timeline for the project is July 1 through December 1.
–Four teachers were awarded tenure: Deanna Cook, Henry Co. Madrigals director; Emilee Roberts, Harrelson School special education teacher; Matt Anderson, Lakewood sixth grade teacher; and Becky Bullion, high school counselor.
—Marly Latta was presented with the school board’s Scholarship to a Future County Educator. She majors in early childhood education at the University of Tennessee at Martin, where she is a junior. Secondary Supervisor of Instruction Dr. Renea Wade made the announcement
–It was announced that Dr. Watkins received a score of 4.6 out of 5 on her latest evaluation by the school board.
