UC Man Seriously Injured In Crash With Tree

Union City, Tenn.—A 68-year-old Union City man was airlifted to an area hospital with serious injuries following a one-vehicle accident Friday afternoon.
 
Terry Caudle was airlifted to The Med in Memphis following the accident, which occurred in the 1100 block of S. Home St.
 
According to the police report, he was northbound when he left the roadway, traveling into a yard at 1124 S. Home St., and striking a tree head-on. The driver was trapped in the car and was unable to unlock the doors.
 
The Union City Fire Department busted the passenger rear window to gain entry into the car. Caudle told emergency workers he believed he had a broken arm. The airbag in the steering column did deploy.
 
The driver was removed by the Obion County EMS and the Union City Fire Department and was taken directly fro the scene to the helipad at Baptist Memorial Hospital and then immediately airlifted to The Med.
 
Paramedics said it appeared Caudle had a broken arm, broken leg and possible broken nose among other injures.
