Paris, Tenn.–A McKenzie man was found guilty to a lesser charge of aggravated sexual battery following a one-day jury trial in Henry County Circuit Court.
Hunter Jay Chantler, age 25, was charged with aggravated rape of a child and the jury found him not guilty on that charge and guilty on the lesser charge.
Chantler was arrested in July of 2024 and was held in the Henry County Jail since that time on $500,000 bond. The trial lasted one day, with the jury deliberating for 3 1/2 hours.
The trial was held before Judge Bruce Griffey, with Morgan Cocker appearing for the state and David Walker representing Chantler.
Sentencing is set for next month.
