Standout Union City High School lineman Kelan Roberson has been selected to play in the annual East-West All-Star Classic.

Roberson, a 6-4 320-pound four-year starter for the Golden Tornadoes, anchored an offensive group that paved the way for UC to gain more than 325 yards and score more than 39 points per game on average while winning the Region 7A championship in a 10-win season.

Defensively, despite being constantly double-teamed in the middle, Roberson recorded 35 tackles. Four of those stops were behind the line, and he had a pair of quarterback sacks and two fumble recoveries.

Roberson, a two-time All-Region selection, is the first UCHS player selected to play in the game in more than 10 years. During his four-year prep career, he was part of 36 Golden Tornado victories, including six in the state playoffs.

Players were selected for the contest by TACA (Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association) coaches, and the game will be played at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville on December 14.
