Paris, Tenn.–The Cub Scouts of Pack 28 demonstrated the true spirit of giving this month by filling four local Blessing Boxes as part of their annual Scouting for Food initiative. The young Scouts, along with their families and leaders, gathered a wide array of non-perishable food items and essentials to support local families in need.
The Blessing Boxes, which are community-run food pantries that provide free items to those in need, were stocked with food and can openers by the Scouts. With a deep commitment to service, the Cub Scouts worked together to gather the donations, which were distributed in key areas of the community, ensuring that those facing food insecurity have access to vital resources.
“We are so proud of our Scouts and their dedication to helping others,” said Lee McDaniel], Cubmaster of Pack 28. “Scouting for Food is not just about collecting food; it’s about teaching our Scouts the value of service and compassion. This project is a wonderful way for our young Scouts to make a real difference in the community.”
The Scouting for Food program is a time-honored tradition for Cub Scouts across the nation, aimed at teaching the principles of charity, teamwork, and leadership. Through their collective efforts, the Cub Scouts were able to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need, embodying the Scout Oath to “help other people at all times.”
The local Blessing Boxes will continue to serve as a vital resource for community members throughout the year. The Cub Scouts’ efforts have not only helped restock these boxes but have also inspired others in the community to give back.
