South Fulton, Tenn.–Several fire departments from the area provided mutual aid to the South Fulton Fire Department as it battled a house fire Tuesday. Thankfully, no one was home and one firefighter did receive treatment for heat conditions. The house was a total loss.
The following is the press release from South Fulton Fire & Rescue:
On Tuesday October 1st, 2024 South Fulton Fire Department responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 4000 block of US Hwy. 45 E in South Fulton. Fire personnel arrived on scene to discover a single-story residence which presented with heavy smoke and flames coming through the roof at the back side of the residence. South Fulton fire department was able to begin initial firefighting operations, as additional resources arrived on scene from Fulton Fire Department, Union City Fire Department, and Rives Fire Department. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire from outside of the structure as well as by means of Firefighters who made entry into the residence to target specific areas. Additionally, the City of Fulton’s ladder truck was on scene which allowed for tactics to be employed that were crucial in the extinguishment of the residence. “I believe that two things were instrumental during this fire, our automatic aid partners all receiving the call from Obion Co. 911 simultaneously and secondly all the departments being willing to work together as one”, Chief John Curtis. No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries to any civilians. One Firefighter did have to be evaluated by EMS due to a heat related condition but did not require transport. A standard cause and origin investigation will be conducted – there is no foul play.
