Paris, Tenn.–The new handicapped chair swing at Eiffel Tower Park in Paris will be ready for public use Saturday, September 7.
The Paris Parks and Recreation Department has been working hard for since June to install the new swing and the safety surface. City Manager Kim Foster said Parks Director Tony Lawrence insisted that the department staff could install it themselves “and they were right.” She said at Thursday night’s city commission meeting that city officials were very proud of the parks department for the installation.
The new swing is located adjacent to the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Park and Playground. Several pieces of equipment on the playground also are handicapped accessible. The new swing was purchased with a 3-Star grant through the State of Tennessee. The Parks Department hopes to complete the installation in a few weeks.
The safety surface took some time to complete. There is a ramp to enter the swing that may be used with a wheelchair. It can be used individually or another person can sit across as well. City of Paris photo.
