Clarksville, Tenn.–Due to current and forecasted weather conditions (extreme heat), Fort Campbell’s electrical provider, Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), has issued a Conservative Operations Alert for Fort Campbell.
In consideration of the TVA alert and potential impacts to Fort Campbell’s mission, it is recommended that facility managers and tenants take measures to reduce our electric loads including: reducing interior lighting where safe and practical; unplugging appliances and electrical items in the work place that are not in use and add to our ‘plug load;’ and adjusting thermostats at noon through the end of the afternoon from current settings to a range of 75 – 78 for cooling. This thermostat adjustment will reduce stress and potential equipment failures on some HVAC units as they typically struggle to meet cooling requirements when the temperature delta from outside air to indoor exceeds 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
