
Marshall C. Helms, 81, of Paris, Tennessee, passed away Friday, August 9, 2024, at his residence.
His funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at New Harmony Baptist Church with grandson, Jared Helms and Howard Kitter of New Harmony officiating. Named as pallbearers are Jared Helms, Aaron Helms, Matthew Holland, Brian Burgess, Jeff Howard, and Houston Howard; Jim Breeding named as an honorary pallbearer. Burial will follow the service in Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 until 7 P.M. on Monday, August 12, 2024 at McEvoy Funeral Home and again on Tuesday after 10 A.M. until service at New Harmony Baptist Church.
Marshall Helms was born January 5, 1943 in Carroll County, Tennessee to the late Chester Harwood Helms and the late Lorine Cunningham Helms. He married Jean Estelle Douglas Helms on March 23, 1963 and she survives in Paris. Mr. Helms is also survived by his son, Keith (Cathy) Helms of Taft, Tennessee; daughter, Nancy (Jeff) Howard of Paris; grandchildren, Jared (Jennifer) Helms, Heather (Brian) Burgess, Aaron Helms, and Matthew (Hannah) Holland; great-grandchildren, Henslee Jean Burgess and Lilah Tatum Burgess; sisters, Brooxie (Jerry) Bush of McKenzie and Deborah Kay (Don) Doom of Kentucky.
Besides his parents, Marshall is also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Cunningham, Lois Hall, and Christine Helms.
Mr. Helms was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church. He worked at Goodyear in Paris for 36 1/2 years and at Henry County Co-Op’s Mister Tire for 8 years and was said to be the best front end mechanic in the county. Marshall enjoyed working outdoors, especially mowing yards and was affectionately known as the “Lawn Ranger” mowing man by his family and friends.
