Henry Co. Family & Consumer Sciences Students Soar At State Conference

Paris, Tenn.–Family & Consumer Sciences members traveled to Gatlinburg before Spring Break to participate in the Tennessee FCCLA State Leadership Conference and brought home a lot of hardware from the various competitions.
Members participated in leadership workshops led by state officers, networked with members from other schools and learned valuable life skills. Some of our members also participated in competitive events. Tori Davenport placed 1st in Fashion Construction and will advance to Nationals. Katie Millard, Ella French and Jessica Knott placed 2nd in Sustainability Challenge and will also advance to Nationals. Mackenzie Mallard and Mackenzie Petronico placed 3rd in Repurpose and Redesign. Allie Paschall placed 4th in Professional Presentation. Allyson Beecham and Macy House placed 3rd in Chapter Service Project Display. Sarah Moody placed 3rd in Event Management. A’Nevah Davis and Addison Perry placed 10th in Focus on Children.
Joscelyn Parker ended her time as the 2023-2024 TN FCCLA First Vice President. Advisor Janet Pearce said, “We are so proud of the leadership skills that Joscelyn has learned this year and the excellent way she represented HCHS and Henry County. We know she will do great things in the future!”
Tori Davenport and Katie Millard were both candidates for the 2024-2025 state executive counsel. They had to complete several tasks before getting to the state conference. While at the conference they participated in interviews, presented display boards and talked with members from across the state, and then presented a 2 minute speech and answered an impromptu question in front of almost 1,000 people. We are proud to announce that Kate Millard was elected as our  2024-205 TN FCCLA Vice President of Individual Development!! We are so excited to see her lead TN FCCLA this coming year!
Mrs. Jessica Lemons received the Lifetouch Exemplary Leader award! The Lifetouch Exemplary Leader Award recognizes an outstanding FCCLA adviser who exemplifies professionalism and character both personally and through their efforts in the state association.
Henry County FCCLA also received a Gold Level 2 Membership Award and an All-Star (highest level) Chapter Goals Award!
Pearce said, “We are thankful for the support we have received from teachers, administrators and the community. A big thank you to Joe Mahan Ford and Henry County School System for sponsoring transportation!”
