Paris, Tenn.–Dustin Alexander, President Elect of the Madison/Goodletsville Rotary club and key proponent for the “Promote Peace” specialty plate license invited all Rotarians and any individual to participate in the Promote Peace program.
In Dustin’s words, “Who doesn’t want to promote peace. When we think of peace we associate it with a lack of violence or war. That is really what has been called Negative Peace. It’s an underlying principle of peace but Rotary is seeking to establish Positive Peace which is measured in other ways as well including, the ability to have a home, food, proper education, medical services and clean water and environment. Many places in the world may have negative peace but don’t have the positive peace we are trying to build.”
The specialty license plate, “Promote Peace” is available through the efforts of Rotary Clubs across Tennessee and seek to raise awareness of the plates on automobiles. Normally a specialty plate costs $35 in addition to normal license fees. The Rotary Clubs across Tennessee are funding the first year’s purchase of 1000 individuals from all corners of the state.
Funds collected will be shared with the Tennessee Arts Commission and Rotary Clubs of Tennessee. If you’d like to be a supporter of the Promote Peace project and get your specialty license for free for the first year, just go on-line to. www.us-ppf.org.
Remember we need 1000 people across the state to sign up and the first year is free for all who participate.
