Martin, Tenn.–This week, the City of Martin celebrated its 150th anniversary with a special event honoring Martin Black History. They took the time to recognize the heritage and contributions of black individuals, groups, and businesses who have shaped our community. Speakers were Johnny Shanklin (shown above) who spoke on the city of Martin’s Black history; and Tara Tansil-Gentry, who spoke on the Black History of UT Martin.
