Paris, Tenn.–At a busy meeting of the Paris Municipal Regional Planning Commission, the panel approved the site plan for the new Security Bank & Trust building on East Wood St., agreed to resume discussion of a site plan for an additional building at Hidden Treasures at 2945 E. Wood St. after further review, and continued discussion of zoning definitions.

Upon recommendation of staff, the site plan for the new and bigger Security Bank & Trust at 2509 E. Wood St. was approved.

The new bank building will replace the one destroyed in a fire last year. It will be a 4,100 squae foot building with two drive-through windows. Administrative Assistant Jessica Crouch said staff did not see any issues with the site plan. She said since it is bigger, Security Bank will be purchasing additional property from the shopping center owners for additional parking.

–Crouch reported that Hidden Treasures is proposing an additional 4,250 sq. ft. building and the addition is planned for use as a flea market. When reviewing with the engineer, parking posed a great issue, she said, noting that L.I. Smith had submitted a proposed area for parking that would meet parking regulations.

The plan presented so far is not a complete site plan and more review of the proposal will be conducted, the planning commission agreed.

–Further discussion was held on Special Purpose Districts and Definitiions and Tables of Uses and City Manager Kim Foster commended both Jessica Crouch and Rebecca Renkel, Administrative Assistant to the Building, Codes and Rainwater department, for their work on it.

“Both Jessica and Rebecca have done a tremendous amount of work on this,” Foster said. “There’s no way we would have been at this point without the work they’ve done.” Commission Member Richard Edwards agreed. “You can tell just how much work they’ve done on this,” he said.

–In other business, the commission heard an update on the pending installation of a vegetation screen as required for Oaklawn Southern Dining at 1008 E Wood St. Randy Crowder has picked up his certified mail at the post office and he has 30 days (until March 5) to complete the project.
