Jury Finds Brown Guilty In Shooting Of Erin Officer

Houston County, Tenn.–A jury found a Louisiana man guilty in the shooting of an Erin police officer in June 2022. B.J. Brown was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, and unlawful possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Sentencing is scheduled for March 26.
Erin Police Officer Darrel Tiebor was shot and wounded during a traffic stop after he fled New Orleans following a shooting there. After shooting Tiebor, Brown fled into nearby woods, carrying his firearm, prompting a massive manhunt in the area. Tiebor was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
At a press conference at the time, Erin Police Chief Mark Moore said, “Make no mistake this was an ambush on an officer, and rest assured we will not rest until he’s captured and justice is served whether by jury, or Jesus and that’s his choice.”

Brown was aso wanted for second-degree murder in the shooting death of a woman in New Orleans the same day the officer in Erin was shot.
