Henry, Tenn.–Henry Volunteer firefighters had their work cut out for them Monday when they were dispatched to a remote structure fire.
Firefighters were dispatched to the 700 block of Old State Route 76 in Henry on a report of a structure fire just before 3 PM this afternoon.
Two fire engines responded to the scene with 7 firefighters to find a very remote structure with light smoke showing.
According to the press release, “Our firefighters first walked the 1336′ on foot clearing the driveway of trees that had grown so we could get some 4-wheel drive vehicles to the scene. Due to the condition of the driveway, we were not able to take any of our fire trucks to the scene. For this reason, we used snow and buckets of water to extinguish the fire which was contained in the wall. Also assisting were our 911 dispatchers, Paris Board of Public Utilities, Henry, TN Police Department & McKenzie Fire/Rescue.”
Department officials said, “We’d like to take a moment to remind everyone to please maintain your driveway base and width to allow emergency services to access your property. Also, it’s VERY IMPORTANT to number your mailbox/driveway/front porch with your address markers. This could help save your life someday.”
