Union City, Tenn.—A Union City man who thought he was not injured that badly in a motorcycle accident later was airlifted to The Med in Memphis with possible serious injuries.

Christopher Long, 40, of Hwy. 21N, Union City, was injured when the motorcycle he was riding went to the ground when he was driving on the North Clover/Highway 21 exit ramp Friday morning.

Long told Union City Police he didn’t know if he hit loose gravel or a patch of ice, but the bike ended up on its side. He said because he works in a motorcycle shop, he thought he could fix the damage and because no other vehicle was involved, he picked up his bike and went on to work.

As the officer was responding to the call, he followed Long to his place of employment at which time, Long was hurting very badly. Long told officers he didn’t want an ambulance, but another employee took him to Baptist Memorial where he was found he had several broken ribs and had possible internal injuries.
