Hazel, Ky.–The late Julie Cowen will celebrated as the 2023 Hazel Day Grand Marshal. The 33rd annual Hazel Day event will be held October 6-7 with a parade, live music, vendors, food trucks, foam cannon, petting zoo and pancakes.
For Hazel Day organizers, this year’s announcement for Grand Marshal was bittersweet. “Julie passed away this week last year, and while I am so happy to be able to celebrate her, I am devastated that she isn’t here to join in her own celebration,” the spokesperson said. “Julie was such an integral part of Hazel, and we all miss seeing her smiling face every time we walk into the bank. We will use the day to celebrate her with her friends and family, and to remember how loved we all felt in her presence.”
