
Lauderdale County, Tenn.–The suspect in the Attempted First Degree Murder of a Union City woman Wednesday was taken into custody in Lauderdale County last night.
Warrants had been issued for Rasheed Weeks, age 20, for Attempted First Degree Murder and Unlawful possession of a weapon after an 18-year-old woman was shot in the back of the head. She was airlifted to The Med in Memphis following the shooting.
Deputies with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Halls Police Department, apprehended Weeks without incident.
Union City Police issued a statement: “Rasheed Weeks was taken in custody this evening by the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department. We appreciate the relationships we share with other Law Enforcement Agencies who do not hesitate to assist when called. Thank you to everyone who took a moment to share our post and help take this dangerous individual back off the street!”

On 09/06/23 at approx. 9:35pm Officers with the Union City Police Department were dispatched to 531 Nash St. Apt 92 in reference to a female who had been shot in the head. When Officers arrived they found victim, Tamya McGhee 18 yrs old of Union City, inside Apt 92 with a gunshot wound to the back of her head. Ms. McGhee was conscious, but was not able to give a statement. Investigation revealed Ms. McGhee had been involved in a Domestic dispute with Rasheed Weeks, 20 yrs old of Union City. During the argument, Mr. Weeks fired one round from a handgun striking Ms. McGhee. Mr. Weeks was seen fleeing the scene on a Bicycle prior to Officers arrival. Ms. McGhee was transported by ambulance from the scene to the Baptist Memorial Hospital Heli Pad where she was flown to the Med for treatment. It is believed Ms. McGhee will recover from her wound. Warrants have been obtained for Rasheed Weeks for Attempted First Degree Murder and Unlawful possession of a weapon. Mr. Weeks was arrested by the 27th Drug Task Force 08/29/23 for unlawful Possession of a weapon. He was released 09/01/23 on an own recognizance bond.
