Reese Paschall and Brody Riley each shot 42 to help the Union City boys’ team edge host Gibson County by one stroke in prep golf Tuesday afternoon.
The Tornadoes totaled 175 to beat GC by a single shot.
Gavin McGuire registered a 45, and Copeland Chism carded a 47 for UC. Trenton – the third team in the tri-match – finished with a 197.
Gibson County bested the Union City girls by nine stokes, 90-99.
Mimi Jenkins came in with a 45, and Adaline Rice shot 54 for the Lady Twisters.
Union City golfers will next play Monday in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Tournament in Jackson.
MIDDLE SCHOOL SOFTBALL

The Lady Tornadoes couldn’t allow a five-run first-inning lead to stand up and dropped their first game after an opening win on Monday.
LR scored twice in the sixth to break a 6-all deadlock.
Union City was guilty of seven errors, making all but one of the Lady Generals’ runs unearned.
Hadley Smith had two hits to pace the Twister offense, while Sophie Palmer and Maddie Steward singled and scored. Steward, Keatyn Hall, and Kylee McGuire had RBIs.
Smith was the tough luck losing hurler, despite striking out seven Lake Road batters.
UC will host Milan on Thursday.
