Dyersburg, TN — Corjustin Thompson, twenty-seven of Dyersburg has been sentenced to a total of 14 years in the Tennessee Department of Corrections for the Sale of a Controlled Substance, Fentanyl and Reckless Homicide. Danny Goodman, Jr, District Attorney General for the 29th Judicial District announced the sentence on June 30, 2023.
According to information presented in court, on February 8, 2022, Corjustin Thompson sold pills that appeared to be Oxycodone but in fact contained Fentanyl to Candace Elmore of Dyersburg, Within minutes of taking the pills Mrs. Elmore overdosed and subsequently died as a result of the Fentanyl contained within the pills.
District Attorney General Danny Goodman, Jr. said, “The sale of Fentanyl pills and the resulting overdose deaths have become an epidemic nationwide as well as in our communities. Law enforcement officers and the District Attorney’s Office will continue to combat this problem by prosecuting all who sell this dangerous drug and by holding the dealers who sell the drug accountable for the deaths of those who purchase the product. Drug addiction effects not only the person using the drugs but their family, friends, and the entire community. Anyone who profits from the misery of others will face the consequences if that results in the death of another person. I would personally like to thank the West Tennessee Drug and Violent Crime Task Force and the Dyer County Sheriff’s Department for the long hours investigating this crime to bring justice to Candace Elmore and her family.”
This case was investigated by the West Tennessee Drug and Violent Crime Task Force and the Dyer County Sheriff’s Department and was prosecuted by District Attorney General Danny Goodman, Jr.
