Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Democratic Party will be meeting to make another appointment to the County Elections Commission after their candidate announced he would not accept the position.

Long-time Democratic Party member Bennie Akers was not reappointed by the Party and they instead appointed Ronnie Herman to the board. However, Herman indicated he was not interested in serving, so the party will have to make another appointment.

At its reorganization meeting Monday, the Elections Commission reappointed DeLaina Green as Administrato, with Steve Goggans reappointed as Chair and Sylvia Humphreys as Secretary.

Green asked the commission to consider monthly instead of quarterly meetings, but members said other meetings can always be added as needed. Green said with the move to Election Centers in Henry County, the commission will be meeting more frequently. “It will probably end up being monthly as more of our equipment comes in,” she said.

The commission decided that the obsolete laptops and notebooks can be recycled rather than destroyed, with Denton Jordan of Henry County Schools saying he can recycle them for use by students after the hard drives are destroyed.
