Fulton County, Ky.—At a press conference Tuesday, Fulton city officials and board members of the Ken-Tenn EMS Ambulance Service presented a dire picture of the future of the service and asked the public for help.
Fulton City Manager Cubb Stokes made a plea to the community, including residents of Fulton, South Fulton, and Hickman, to help fund the ambulance service.
An optional $10 ambulance fee has been placed on participating residents’ water bills and city officials are asking that community members to pay the optional fee.
City officials and ambulance service staff are concerned that without that funding, they can’t sustain the service, which would include maintaining the equipment, ambulances and staffing.
Stokes said the $10 a month per household will help sustain the service, which costs $1.3M to operate annually. He said community participation is key to the future of the ambulance service.
