Big Sandy, Tenn.—A Big Sandy man who was seriously wounded in the mass shooting at Las Vegas continues to heal slowly, but there is new hope in his condition.
Jason McMillan has been hospitalized in Las Vegas since the shooting in early October and has just recently been moved to a specialized facility in Colorado.
Rev. Milton Gordon of the Church of God Prophecy in Big Sandy, said McMillan is showing signs of improvement. “He has started having some feeling in his legs,” Gordon said. “They noticed one of his feet moving and his big toe has been able to move, too.”
McMillan, who worked in law enforcement in California, had been paralyzed following the shooting.
Gordon said, “He’s undergoing extensive rehab at the new facility and they’re hoping the paralysis is only temporary. They’re thinking he eventually will be able to walk again. Of course, it’s a matter of time and hard work.”
McMillan’s father, Mike McMillan is a member and dedicated volunteer at the Church of God Prophecy—which is called The Rock Church—and also volunteers at the Big Sandy Christian Outreach Center.
Jason McMillan was shot twice in the chest during the shooting melee. He was attending the country music festival in Las Vegas along with thousands of others when he was shot.
The Rock Church has been collecting cards and donations for the family. They can be sent to The Rock Church, P.O. Box 7, Big Sandy, Tenn., 38221.Note on your card or check who it is for.
“We’ve been sending along everything we have received for the McMillans to them,” Gordon said.
