
Paris, Tenn.–Due to the forecast of dangerous frigid temperatures expected late Thursday evening through Monday, Henry County Emergency Management will be making preparations along with Paris Police Department, Henry County Sheriffs Dept, Paris Special School District and Paris First United Methodist Church to open a warming shelter at the WO Inman Middle School Tornado Shelter located at 400 Harrison St in Paris.
Henry County EMA will be providing cots and blankets to those needing a warm place to stay during the holiday weekend.
Henry County Sheriff Josh Frey and Paris Police Chief Rick Watson stated their respective agencies will be monitoring and making regular checks on the shelter through out the weekend. No animals will be allowed at the shelter, .
The shelter will open at 4pm on Thursday December 22 and will close at noon on Monday December 26.
Henry County EMA Director Ron Watkins said, ” This is a dangerous event due to the fact wind chills may reach down to 20 below zero and will stay below freezing till early next week. Persons should plan now for the cold temperatures by checking vehicles and have extra blankets and coats in the vehicle. Making sure you can stay warm. Residents are asked to bring pets indoors if possible and check on the elderly family and neighbors.”
