Paris Woman In Jail On Aggravated Neglect Charges

By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director

Paris, Tenn.—A Paris woman is being held on $60,000 bond in the Henry County Jail on charges of aggravated child abuse and neglect, as well as drug charges. And a juvenile in the home was arrested on a charge of rape involving a younger boy who had formerly lived at the residence.

Ashley Lynn Garrison, age 36, of 706 Cooper Street, was arrested by Paris Police Sgt. Jeramye Whitaker after Whitaker accompanied DCS staff to the home this week.

Whitaker told WENK/WTPR this morning that Paris Police and DCS were at the home looking into the welfare of the children. All of the children in the home have since been removed, he said.

The 14-year-old juvenile was charged with rape involving a three-year-old boy, Whitaker said. The 14-year-old has been placed with another family member “away from the other children”, Whitaker said, pending his first court date in the local juvenile court, which will happen in December.

While at the home serving the mother with the court papers involving the juvenile offender, the drug charges were filed against Garrison. Whitaker received permission to search the house and found one gram of marijuana, one hydrocodone pill and 0.1 gram of cocaine.
