Paris, Tenn.—Henry County Sheriff’s deputies are still investigating the puzzling discovery of a burned-out vehicle on the side of the road near Puryear on Saturday morning.

While on patrol, Sgt. Wayne Fuqua found a white Lincoln navigator on the side of the road on Hwy. 140. According to the report, Fuqua found a latex glove in the driver’s seat, along with oil all over the inside of the vehicle. A wad of paper towels had been set on fire in the back seat.

Captain Adam Jenkins told WENK/WTPR this morning that the plates on the car were from Mississippi and Fuqua was able to contact the owner through the plates and an insurance card for a woman who lives in Tupelo. The woman said she had sold the SUV to someone else back in January.
