Dorothy Hopkins Wade Ward

Dorothy Hopkins Wade Ward, 88, of Whitlock, Tennessee, died Monday, October 24, 20222, at her residence.

She was born Monday, July 16, 1934, in Henry County, Tennessee, to William Eli Hopkins and Della McDaniel Hopkins, who both preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her six sisters: Hinda Thomas, Sarah Owen, Johnnie Shankle, Rebecca Hovath, Regina Lamb and Kay Forsythe and her five brothers: Hinda Thomas, Sarah Owen, Johnnie Shankle, Rebecca Hovath, Regina Lamb and Kay Forsythe.

Mrs. Ward was also preceded in death by her first husband: Joe Arliss Wade, who she married in 1969 and who died in 1982, and her second husband: Frank Ward, who she married in 1995 and who died in 2005.

Mrs. Ward retired from Salant & Salant and from Henry County Health Dept. where she worked as a CNA. Dorothy loved yard sales, flea markets and most especially watching her grandchildren dance.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughterL Michelle (Jason) Wade, of Whitlock, Tennessee; her son: Richard (Beverly) Wade, of Maryville, Tennessee; her grandchildren: Wesley (Susan) Wade, Whitney (Jesse) Williams, Kaelin Wade, and Paul Wade; her great-grandchildren: Ester and Evangeline Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2022, at McEvoy Funeral Home, with Dale Gallimore and Kevin Gallimore officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2022 and after 1 p.m. Thursday until service at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Foundry Hill Community of Christ Cemetery, in Puryear, Tennessee.

Michael Hopkins, James Lacy, Susan Wade, Junior Barham, Danny Barham, and Doug Hearnsberger will serve as pallbearers with Tim Lacy and Kenny Lacy serving as honorary pallbearers.
