Paris, Tenn.—Henry County today conducted another successful delinquent property tax sale, to the tune of $104,500, with 139 parcels sold.

At Monday night’s meeting of the County Commission, County Attorney Rob Whitfield reported, “This was a successful sale day, which represents a Herculean effort by (County Trustee) Randi French, (City Finance Director) Pat Hollingsworth, (County Mayor) Brent Greer. It’s truly a big effort to get all the parcels in a position to sell. It’s a big job.”

Whitfield and Greer thanked the city of Paris for its assistance in handling the city parcels to be sold.

Greer said, “We’re slowly getting all the tax rolls cleaned up. The effort is worth it.”

Today’s sale sold off parcels to 2015 and Whitfield said there will be far fewer delinquent parcels for sale at the next sale. “We started with 1000 delinquent properties”, he said, and for the next sale, there will only be a few dozens left to sell.

Whitfield said the figures are preliminary and not yet certified by the state.

The commission appointed Commissioner David Webb to the Henry County Medical Center board, to fill the unexpired term of retired James Travis.

In other business, the commission approved quitclaims on three properties, at the recommendation of the county road board.

Quitclaims were approved to:

Gary and Teresa Roach for parcel on Shady Grove Rd.

Brian Horton, wife Leigh Horton and to Carl Cuthbertson and wife, Rhonda and Charlie Cuthbertson and wife Janis in property located on Porter Switch Rd.

Robert Lee Stagner for the purpose of moving the road connection between Whitney Rd. and Poplar Grove Rd.

The commission also declared several county vehicles as surplus.
