Refuge To Host Tree-Trimming Event

Springville, Tenn.—The Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge will host a “Trim a Tree for Wildlife” event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, November 15. A family fun day, it will focus on making Christmas ornaments from nature and will feature the local band The Chill Tonics, a cozy fireplace, hot chocolate and tea cakes.

Refuge staff also will provide suggestions on how to trim an outdoor tree for wildlife.

The Chill Tonics will be performing in the auditorium at 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m.

The wintering waterfowl are already beginning to arrive at the refuge and a Ranger will be on hand near the back patio to point out any wildlife sightings you just don’t want to miss.

Located at 1371 Wildlife Drive in Springville, the refuge Visitor Center is open from 8:00 – 4:00 Monday – Saturday.  Fully interactive wildlife exhibits combined with experiencing a beautiful bay of Kentucky Lake can make for a pleasant day in itself.  But during this event the entire center will be filled with kid-friendly craft tables.  The Blue Heron Book Store will also be open with plenty of newly stocked items for the unique Christmas gift.  Entrance to the Visitor Center and events are always free to the public.
