Paris, Tenn.–On this first day of the month, the Paris Board of Public Utilities has bad news for the public.
BPU officials have announced on its Facebook page, “Unfortunately, with the flip of the calendar to August, TVA’s Fuel Cost Adjustment will once again increase. During the month of August, the cost per kWh used will increase by another 0.6 cents. Each Paris BPU customer will see the impact of this added cost during August billing.”
ATTENTION PRE-PAY CUSTOMERS: BPU officials said, “You will be the first to see the impact. Your daily cost per kWH will increase starting on Monday the 1st.”
The BPU Customer Support staff stands ready to help customers understand the impact and point you to helpful resources if needed. “We simply want you to be aware of the August 1st cost change. We understand the struggle for our customers”, they said. “We do anticipate a decrease in the FCA charge for September. We will all welcome a change for the better!”
BPU officials reiterated their earlier announcement on electric rates.  “Paris BPU is not increasing electric rates over the next fiscal year which ends June 2023. That means Paris BPU will receive no additional revenues over that time. That’s three fiscal years in a row with no increase. The Fuel Cost Adjustment is passed on from TVA every month as it has fora number of years. It can fluctuate up and can also decrease depending on a number of factors at the TVA level.”
