
Hickman County, Tenn.–A Tennessee City Firefighter was injured Monday night while working an 18-wheeler fire on I-40 and the fire department is asking for prayers for he and his family. Captain Ted Presgraves was clipped by a van that struck one of the fire department’s tankers at the scene. He was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center from the scene.
The Tennessee City Fire Department responded as mutual aid to Bucksnort Fire Rescue on a 18-wheeler fire at approximately 8:48 PM.
At approximately 9:39 PM a van traveling westbound in the closed lane struck Tanker 522, then struck a passenger car, then clipped Fire Captain Ted Presgraves standing at the pump panel of Tanker 523.
Personnel immediately started care on Captain Presgraves as well as working to free the trapped driver of van.
Captain Presgraves was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center with non life threatening injuries.
As of 8:30 AM Captain Presgraves was in surgery for injuries sustained in accident.
