Pair Passed Out In Stolen Truck

Union City, Tenn.—Two people found passed out behind a Union City restaurant Monday are now charged with theft of a motor vehicle after the car they were in was found to be stolen from Gleason.
 
Brian Ray Eaves, age 40, of Airport Rd., Union City; and April D. Simmons, age 31, of Frasier St., Union City, were transported to Obion County Jail.
 
They were found passed out behind Penny Hill Shoppe restaurant on Jackson Street around 7 a.m. Monday. Union City Police officers woke them up and once they were identified, determined that both were wanted on outstanding warrants.
 
Officers then determined that the black 1989 GMC truck they were in was stolen from an individual in Gleason. Chief Hazelwood of the Gleason PD was contacted and the victim was notified that his truck had been found.
 
Eaves and Simmons are charged with theft of a motor vehicle, a Class D felony based on the value of the truck.
