Paris, Tenn.–Over 400 worn American flags were retired by Paris Boy Scout Troop 28 during a special ceremony Saturday at the Paris Elks Lodge. With Flag Day being on June 14, the ceremony was held a couple days early. The only way to retire an American flag is to burn it which can only be done by the military or the Boy Scouts. Scout Leader Matt Hayes said the flags were turned in to the Troop’s drop off boxes, which are located at the BPU kiosk, VFW, American Legion, National Guard Armory, Paris Fire Station #2, and the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department.
