Paris, Tenn.–– Meeting Tuesday, the Paris Public Utility Authority welcomed Jill Coker to the board and conducted election of officers, reelecting David Flowers as Board Chairman and Butch Powers as Vice Chair.
Coker replaces long-time Board Member (and Vice President) Ralph Anderson, who passed away in February.
Public Utility Authority CEO Terry Wimberley said, “Jill, the PUA board humbly welcomes you, and we look forward to working with you to move our utility forward.”
Among the members whose terms are set to expire are that of David Flowers on June 30, 2022. The Board voted to re-appoint Flowers to the PUA board for an additional four-year term beginning July 1, 2022. The City Commission will now review for approval.
“David has been a great asset to the Board for many years,” said Wimberley. “His experience and abundance of knowledge of our utility and our community are valuable. I look forward to his continued service to the Board.”
Fiscal year 2023 budgets were presented for all three departments. Wimberley shared highlights from each budget and detailed planned major capital expenditures.
Wimberley emphasized that there will be no rate increase in any department heading into the new fiscal year. The utility has seen no electric or water rate increase for now the third year in a row. FY2023 will be the second consecutive year with no wastewater rate increase. No action was taken on the budgets. Budgets will be on the agenda for approval at the June meeting.
The final item of business was the approval of modified loan amounts for the HVAC and Generator loan programs. In mentioning these programs, Wimberley stated, “These loans have been a tremendous help for our customers to provide financial support, and any effort to continue this service to our community would be not only beneficial, but essential.”
The next meeting of the Board will take place Tuesday, June 28, 2022.
