Paris, Tenn.–The Paris Alcoholic Beerage Control (ABC) Board approved two temporary beer permit requests for upcoming events at its Thursday night meeting.
The permits are for the Tennessee River Jam kick-off concert in downtown Paris June 16 by the Marshall Tucker Band and for the PBR Rodeo set for the Henry County Fairgrounds July 1 and 2.
Both requests were made by Paris-Henry County Chamber CEO Travis McLeese, who was represented at the meeting by Kasey Muench of the Chamber.
Muench said for this year’s Jam kick-off, there will be two beer stations and patrons will have to stay in those areas to drink beer. She said even more people are expected at this year’s kick-off than last year’s, which drew a crowd of some 4,500 people.
The beer stations at this year’s PBR Rodeo at the fairgrounds will be in the same locations as they were for last year’s inaugural event.
ABC Board Chair Ricky Searcy pointed out that not everyone is happy with beer being sold at these events.
Paris City Manager Kim Foster said, “We have no grounds to deny the permits as long as they meet all the criteria.”
The permits were approved unanimously by the board.
