Holladay, Tenn.–Gideon Shepherd of Henry won the West Tennessee Banjo Championship at the 64th Old Time Bluegrass & Fiddler’s Jamboree at Holladay over the weekend.
Shepherd is a member of the musical Shepherd family which has been entertaining at events in the local area for years. He is the son of C. Scott and Traci Shepherd, who live in Henry.
At the competition, he was accompanied by Dan Knowles of Paris on guitar.
Shepherd won the first place prize of $175.
This year was the first in two years for the contest. It was not held in 2020 or 2021 due to the COVID pandemic.
