McKenzie, Tenn.–A large crowd was on hand to welcome the McKenzie Lady Rebels back home Sunday after their 46-42 victory over Wayne County to win the Class 1A State Championship.
They made history with the team’s first state championship and the first appearance at the state contest since 1963.
A caravan met the Lady Rebels as they arrived back in Carroll County, escorting them to the high school for a special gathering for the team. Team members carried the gold ball into the gym to applause from the crowd.
Members of the 1963 also were on hand for photos with the team and Coach Wilkins.
