
Union City, Tenn.–Four men — one from Union City–were arrested on drug and weapons charges Wednesday, March 2, following a traffic stop on Highway 51 near Walker Tanner Road.
An Investigator with the Obion County Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop on a Buick Enclave after the vehicle almost struck the investigator’s SUV. The driver of the vehicle did consent to search after the odor of marijuana was detected, and he admitted to having a weapon inside his vehicle. All occupants exited the vehicle, and it was at this time one of the passengers threw out, what was later to be discovered as a handgun, into the ditch beside vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.
Back up from multiple agencies arrived shortly after to assist the 2 Investigators with the search. Discovered during the search were 3 handguns, 2.2 ounces of Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia.
All four men were taken into to custody and transported to the Obion County Correctional Facility and their charges are as follows:
Patrick Ray Hampton, 48, of Moorehead, MI, is charged with Unlawful Possesion of a Weapon, Possession of Schedule VI, and Poession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Marquavius Harris, 29, of Moorehead, MI, is charged with Unlawful Possesion of a Weapon and Possession of Schedule VI
Saivon C. Washington, 30, of Madison, TN, is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of Schedule VI, and Tampering with Evidence
Arion D. Thompson, 31, of Union City, TN, is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of Schedule VI, Evading Arrest, Resisting Arrest, Tampering with Evidence, and a Crime in Another State
All were arraigned in Obion County General Sessions Court on Thursday, March 3, 2022 and received a bond of $10,000, except for Arion Thompson who is wanted out of Mississippi.
