Union City, Tenn.–Union City Schools has set aside March 17 for kindergarten screening and pre-K registration for the 2022-23 school year.
The testing and signup for the next two classes of Golden Tornadoes is scheduled from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. at UC Elementary School.
Children who are 5 years old on or before August 15, 2022, are eligible to attend kindergarten in the Union City School System next year (2022-23).
Children who are 4 years old on or before August 15, 2022, are eligible to attend pre-K in the 2022-23 school year at UC Schools.
Several documents are requested by school officials for registration.
They include:
· Child’s birth certificate
· Immunization/current physical examination record (state form)
· Social Security card (Not required to register)
· Proof of residency
· Proof of income (Pre-K only)
The documents are requested, but not mandatory for registration.
Those who cannot attend but still plan for their child to enroll in kindergarten or pre-K should contact the school at 885-1632.
Among the many services provided for pre-K students and kindergartners at Union City Schools are:
· After school care is available from 3-5:30 p.m. each school day.
· All Pre-K and kindergarten teachers have a full-time educational assistant.
· UCES — like all other schools in the system — is accredited by AdvanceEd.
· Pre-K students benefit from the system’s Sparks PE program, music, language lessons, complete pre-K curriculum, library, art, and child-directed lessons and learning through exploration of centers.
· Pre-K and kindergarten classrooms are equipped with interactive LED panels/displays, DVD players, IPads, and student touch screen computers.
· Kindergarten students benefit from state-aligned ELA, math, social studies, and science curriculum — CKLA.
· Kindergarten students also receive additional educational opportunities in computer labs, music, library, art, and physical education classes each week taught by certified instructors.
