Union City, Tenn.–Merry Christmas from Union City Schools!

In the final days before classes were dismissed for the holiday break, students on all three UC Schools campuses exhibited the spirit of the season by continuing several longstanding traditions.

At Union City Elementary School, Vice Principal Thel Taylor donned his usual attire and read The Polar Express to classes. Students in the lower grades presented their yearly Christmas concert for family and friends, while those in the third and fourth grades who were members of “Voices” also joined in and visited several venues while performing Christmas songs under the direction of UCES music teacher Katie Tohn.

Students and staff at both UC Middle and UCHS were in the spirit of the season with a number of activities, too.

Members of Tornado RISE enjoyed a morning at Santa’s Village in Martin and then were treated to lunch at Don Sol as a reward for good behavior.

Teachers at the middle school banded together to donate funds to ensure 24 students – in addition to those helped by Chimes for Charity – received multiple Christmas gifts in a gesture coordinated by Guidance Counselor Mary Wiggins.

Longtime Union City High School teacher Carolyn Nipp, members of the Beta Club and others organized a couple of fundraisers that produced more than $700 for area victims of the recent storms that swept across Northwest Tennessee and Southwest Kentucky.
