MARTIN, Tenn. – Kelby Kane had quite a day today for the University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian squad as the senior out of Lexington, Ky. went a perfect 2-for-2 in MOP accolades in an 8-2 triumph over Lynchburg at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion.

Kane earned top status in fences (86 points) and in flat (86.5) as the Skyhawks won four out of five head-to-head matchups in both events. Today’s performance marked the seventh flat MOP and fifth fences MOP in Kane’s stellar collegiate career.

In fences, Kelby Kane’s effort resulted in her team-best sixth win of the 2021-22 season. Haley Kane’s 84 points tied her career-best score for the second time in as many days as she came away with her fourth victory of the year. Tyler Anderson (71) and Julia Gilman (70) also added wins for their first and fourth victories of the season, respectively. Elizabeth Becker was UT Martin’s fifth member of the scoring lineup as she tallied 70 points.

Kelby Kane’s ride in flat was good enough for her fourth win in that event this fall. Gilman collected 79 points to carry her to a team-best fifth victory of the 2021-22 campaign. Sydney Hott won in her collegiate debut as the sophomore from Defiance, Mo. posted 76.5 points. Anderson’s 73-point performance was the fourth win of her junior season while Haley Kane managed a 70.5 to complete the scoring for the Skyhawks.

UT Martin concludes the fall portion of their schedule with a 3-3 overall record and 3-1 mark against Eastern College Athletic Conference competition. The Skyhawks open the spring season on Jan. 27-29 in the Lone Star State as they will square off against SMU and Delaware State in Dallas before visiting Fort Worth to take on TCU.
