Union City, Tenn.–A third-place team finish by the girls highlighted Union City’s participation in the Best of the West cross country meet at Obion County Central Tuesday.
The event drew a large field of participants – 21 teams and 188 entries in the boys’ competition and 15 teams and 157 runners on the girls’ side.
Freshman Kennedi Robinson paced the Lady Tornado charge with a sixth-place overall finish and a time of 22:38.52. Bailey Wagoner joined Robinson as a medalist, crossing the finish line with a time of 23:24.23 that was good for 12th place.
Other UC finishes included Lizzy Jones (39th, 26:57.19); Adeline Rice (43rd, 27:18.37); Chloe Meade (53rd, 28:13.22); Daisy Sanchez (66th, 29:25.69); Myranda Parr (76th, 30:56.02), and Lennon Bing (119th, 31”49).
Cedrion Cook continued his strong senior campaign with a sixth-place showing for the Union City boys.
Cook posted a time of 18:13 and was the only Tornado runner to medal.
The remainder of the UC pecking order included: Cole Suiter (29th, 20:21); Cameron McLendon (74th, 22:46); Brendan Meade (108th, 24:08); Samuel Rodriguez (167th, 30:06); and Kajaylon Bell (174th, 31:52).
Next up for the Tornado squads is the regional meet, Oct. 26 at OCCHS.
