Judge Vicki Snyder Is Candidate For Court Of Criminal Appeals Appointment

Paris, Tenn.–Long-time Henry County General Sessions and Juvenile Court Judge Vicki Snyder is one of five candidates for appointment to the Court of Criminal Appeals created by the retirement of the Honorable Alan E. Glenn.

The Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments made the announcement of the applicants for the position Tuesday. The other four applicants are Donald H. Allen, Kyle Atkins, John W. Campell and Robert Wilson. Allen and Atkins are Circuit Court Judges in the 30th District, Campell is a Criminal Court Judge in the 30th District and Wilson is an Assistant Attorney General.

Snyder was elected to the position of General Sessions and Juvenile Court Judge in 2006.

She graduated from law school after only 2 1/2 years. She was graduated from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis in 1985. She has worked as a law clerk for the Shelby County Court, was an Assistant Attorney General for the 24th District, as well as an Assistant Public Defender for the 24th District before her election as judge.

 

The Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments will consider the five applicants when it meets to select nominees for the Court of Criminal Appeals opening in the Western Section.

 The Council will hold a public hearing on November 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST at the Jackson Supreme Court Building located at #6 Highway 45 By-Pass, Jackson to consider the candidates.  Interested individuals, including any members of the public, may attend the public hearing.

 The Council is expected to vote immediately following the interviews and will forward three names to Governor Bill Lee for his consideration.
