UC’s Kizer Looks To Improve Standing In State Golf Tourney

Union City, Tenn.–Union City High School sophomore Molly Kizer will look to move up the leaderboard in the Class A Girls’ State Golf Tournament today.

Kizer shot 122 in the opening round of the 36-hole event Thursday at the Sevierville Golf Club.

She will start Day 2 in 42nd place in the individual field.

A par on the 152-yard sixth hole and another on the 139-yard 11th hole highlighted Kizer’s first-round effort. She also had a pair of bogeys on the front-nine – on holes No. 1 and 3, respectively.

 Coming off a fourth-place finish in the Region 7A Tournament that allowed her to qualify for the state tournament, Kizer shot 59-63 on the par-70 course Highland course.

Kizer is scheduled to tee off this morning at 8:50.

HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL

Union City was well-represented as District 13A handed out its volleyball award winners Thursday night at Gibson County High School.

Anna Cheatham and Raegan Taylor were chosen to the all-district team – based on their seasonal play. Annie Wade and Kaigan Davis were picked for the all-tournament team.

Taylor, Davis, Wade and Sara Ullrich earned spots on the All-Academic team.

The Lady Tornadoes concluded their 2021 season with an 11-9 record following a semifinal loss to Westview in Tuesday’s district semifinals.
